What is JPSC  exam ?

Jharkhand Public Service Commission also abbreviated as JPSC is a government body of Jharkhand which was formed to facilitate the recruitment of candidates to various government jobs of the Government of Jharkhand. JPSC was founded on 15 November 2000 due to formation of State of Jharkhand by the merging of 18 districts of Bihar in the first half of year 2000. The commission performs the function of conducting recruitments, competitive exams, conducting interviews and screening tests. It is also responsible for the maintenance of disciplinary actions under its control.

What is JPSC exam eligibility criteria ?

Educational Qualification 

The applicant must posses a degree or a diploma that is equivalent to a government recognised school's graduation degree.

Nationality 

Candidates applying for the JPSC must be a citizen of India.

What is the minimum age to apply for JPSC exam ?

A candidate who is eager to apply for JPSC exam must be of a minimum age of 20 years to apply for Jharkhand state police service. To apply for the Jharkhand Finance service and Jharkhand Labor Service a candidate must be of 21 years of age.

The maximum age to apply for JPSC exams for candidates of different category are :

  • Unreserved : 35 years of age
  • BC-II/BC-I candidates : 37 years of age
  • Unreserved female candidates : 38 years of age
  • SC & ST (Both Male and Female) : 40 years of age

How to apply for JPSC exam ?

The steps that one candidate needs to follow for JPSC exams are :

  • Step 2 : Select "JPSC application form"
  • Step 3 : On the "New registration" option provide your contact information
  • Step 4 : Enter "Captcha" and click "Register"
  • Step 5 : Visit the "Login" page post the above procedure 
  • Step 6 : Post logging in complete all required details, upload relevant documents and pay application price
  • Step 7 : Press Submit

Application Fees 

The application fees required to register for candidates of different categories are :

  • Unreserved / BC I  & BC II : ₹ 600 + Bank Charges
  • Jharkhand SC/ST candidates :  ₹ 150 + Bank Charges
  • PwD candidates :  Exempted

JPSC Exam Pattern

Applicants passing the preliminary test appear for the main exam and then the successful candidates in the main exam are called up for Interview. Below is a list of the Preliminary Exam & Main Exam JPSC 2024  exam pattern:

Preliminary Exam

Two papers—objective type and multiple-choice—will be part of the preliminary examination. Candidates are chosen for the Main Examination based on their performance in this preliminary test.
There are 100 questions in Paper 1, and 200 total points will go toward the general knowledge part.
Paper 2 consists of 100 questions and tests candidates general knowledge about Jharkhand 

Mains Exam 

There are six papers that are conducted in the mains exams which are provided below :
  • Paper-I : General English & Hindi
  • Paper-II : Language & Literature
  • Paper-III : History & Geography
  • Paper-IV : Indian Constitution, Government, and Reforms
  • Paper-V : Sustainable development, globalization, and the Indian economy
  • Paper-VI : Environmental studies, technological development, and general studies

The above mentioned six papers account for a total of 1050 marks
